Art Monster, Seongsu

We’ve visited Art Monster in Jongno before, deep inside the Iksoeon-dong hanok maze, but this time we are checking out their Seongsu venue in more modern surroundings. While the Jongno branch is a remodeled traditional Korean house, this Art Monster is a remodeled factory building of some sort. Exposed steel beams, concrete details and weathered wood that fits right into the old industrial area.

The beer menu is exactly the same as in Jongno, and the styles are a bit more oddly specific than what we normally see in craft beer pubs. Style descriptions like German Bavarian Hefeweizen Ale and Belgian Golden Strong Ale are not exactly common finds, but well in line with the menu in general. In addition to a name and poster, all the beers have a detailed breakdown of the type, strength and key ingredients.

Detailed, but clear menu.

Don’t let the highly detailed menu scare you off if you’re just looking for a cold one, the beers are mostly easy to drink and enjoy. While we do want for something more unique on the menu, it should be easy for most beer drinkers to find something that suits them. Our favorite is still the Grapefruit Session IPA, which is not as sweet as you might guess, and because of it’s low alcohol content it works perfectly well as a thirst-quencher in large servings!

But the session IPA comes in a tall weizen glass or a smaller tulip glass.
